Meet The Artist
Howdy!I’m Corey, a digital and traditional artist and an aspiring animator! I specialize in character design and paintingWhen I create my art, I often look to other artists I know, or animated films for inspiration. I love admiring the artistry of each creation and it motivates me to continue my work as an artist.I think art is one of the most impactful and meaningful things we can make. I don’t think there’s such a thing as being born with talent, but being born with a passion. I believe anyone can learn to create and love art, all it takes is the right mindset and love for the work.
“what is art?”
Coming from an artist
For decades people have asked, “what is art?”. One might answer it as creating something new. One might answer it as creating an image. One might answer it as anything. I believe it is something deeper than that.
Art is something created with passion and purpose. Anyone can recognize the artistry of something, even if it isn’t creating.One could recognize the artistry in ballet, the dance being nothing new but the performance still being done with raw, human emotion is what brings it to become art. It gives the audience a feeling and experience.One might recognize artistry within music. Each note coming together to create something entirely new, and even if this song has been played over and over, each performance provides a new atmosphere. The musician plays with a purpose and plays with passion that is so deeply embedded into their soul, they become what they play.Many recognize artistry within paintings. The artist using the medium to make new scenery or to recreate a vision before them. It comes from the heart and each stroke of the brush reflects a piece of their soul.But what about other passions? Maybe sports, car mechanics, computer code or botany? These topics may not provide a performance or a piece to admire, but is it not the soul-full work that the artist takes that makes it art? Is it not the raw love to create and work in this field that is what makes it art? Who are we to look at something we have no care for, and tell the ones who love it, that it is not art?Which begs the questions of artificial intelligence.
I believe that despite the glamorization and trending use of AI in today’s time, it will never fully take over. AI can not and will never create. AI can not and will never feel. It will not love. It will not do something for the pure enjoyment from doing it. It is meant to mimic, mirror and repeat what those before have loved to do. What it creates may look like art but it will never be art. It does not have a soul. Love is what makes art, and it has no heart.

I make crochet stuffed animals and make patterns for other crafters to use. I hope to use this as a way to support and provide more for other crocheters while also funding my time in college in a way that supports my artistic career,.
